Happy Monday!

Hey class!

You have two very large tests coming your way, so please make sure you are using your free time wisely and are studying :).

Here is your homework:

Math: POW #9 due Friday.  I will now start giving two problems each week.  For those of you who want to push yourself and have more rigor in class, please challenge yourself to complete both problems.

Class problem (the one you are required to do):  Billy Barney Dora and his parents are a little unusual. If he does an acceptable job of doing his chores, he gets paid $3.33 for that day. If he does an outstanding job, he gets $3 more. During one 10 day period, he received $42.30 for his work. How many days did Billy Barney Dora earn the extra money?

Challenge Problem:
Study this picture. How many blocks would you need for a 20-step staircase? Set up an algebraic equation to solve.

Reading: One reading reflection (you should have 11 -- one question and a summary)

Vocab: WW12 due Friday/ Quiz.   You will have your cumulative exam for unit 10-12 next Tuesday. STUDY.

Writing: We will be finishing up our literary devices unit this week.  You will have a final test on this information this Friday.  I handed back your quiz from last week.  Many of you did very well!  For those of you who did not perform as well as you had hoped, you need to study these.  Come see me if you are confused!

Have a great evening!

Tuesday

Hey class,

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and celebrated those who serve our country.

For homework this week/today:

Math: P.O.W. due Friday, math homework review

M makes mugs in Miami. She makes two sizes of mugs: a small mug that she sells for $2.50 and a large mug that she sells for $5.75. Yesterday M made $56. Before she opened her shop in the morning, she had 200 mugs in her inventory. At the end of the day she has 188. How many mugs of each price did she sell?

Vocabulary: WW11 due Friday, Quiz Friday

Reading: Reading Reflection (summary and one question)

PARENT NOTE:  I gave your child the "summa book list" if they asked for me to make a copy of one last week.  I am in contact with the 6th grade summa teacher and he has provided me with a long list of classics he feels students would benefit from reading.  If you child ever claims that they "don't have anything to read," please have them pull out this list and select a book.  I want to do all that I can to make sure each student is prepared for their academic future and reading such books will further their preparation. Please not this is not a requirement from me, but a challenge for those who are wanting it. :).

Happy "Friday"

Hey class!  Just a friendly reminder that there is no school for students tomorrow.  Enjoy your four day weekend and I will see all of you on Tuesday.

For homework:

I will not assign a reading reflection for the weekend, but you should be reading.  I am not there to really check on you to see if you are doing it, but living with integrity means that you are doing the right thing even if no one is looking.  Always push yourself to be the best you can be.

If you did poorly on your "pop quiz" for literary devices, you will need to study this weekend.  I will be giving you an actual quiz on these concepts next week.  The "final" test for these concepts will be the following week.

Have a great four day weekend with friends and family.  Make good choices and get rest :).

Ms. Evans

Wednesday

Hey class!

I am excited about our new seating arrangement.  Many of you are working well in your new groups.  For those of you who are struggling with this, remember that people skills are one of the most important things to have in life.  Learn to work well with others - even if they have a different perspective than you. :).

For homework:

Math:  CCSS Review (front and back)

Writing:  We took a pop quiz on the literary devices today.  Please look at your score and figure out which devices you are still struggling with.  We won't work with these tomorrow because you will be taking your quiz.  In two weeks you will take the real assessment to see how well you understand these.

Vocab: Tomorrow will be a big vocab day.  WW10/Quiz is tomorrow.  Your cumulative exam for units 7-9 is tomorrow as well.  Study up this evening!

Reading: Reading Reflection (summary and one question)

Enjoy your night!
