The Week in Rap Shout-Out Contest
For a shout-out on Friday, March 4, 2016, entries are due Thursday, February 25, 2016, by 6 P.M. EST.

Hear a Nominee

This week, we covered the death of Justice Antonin Scalia and the debate over who should nominate his successor. There are several steps to becoming a Supreme Court justice, and the nomination is just the first. After the nomination, a committee of 20 people, will have a hearing and vote on whether the nomination should pass to the next step. For this week's shout out contest, we want you to imagine you're on that committee. What questions will you ask the nominee? What do you want to know about the nominee's experience, qualifications or political beliefs? Send us 3 or more questions you’d ask of the next justice of the United States' highest federal court. You can send us the responses you'd like to hear from the nominee as well! .
Note: Students, your teachers must submit for you. Any video submissions should be horizontal.

This week... important notes

Hi all!

A couple of items to take note of...

1. Conference sign ups have been made available
2. Valentine's party this Friday (1:25-2:25)
3. Those of you interested in AVID... please contact Julie Stroinki with questions/application informaiton

For conferences:
- These will be student led
- Binders will be given out that contain a ten week review of all 5th grade learning targets related to math and English language arts

A NOTE ABOUT HOMEWORK (FOR PARENTS):
A few parents have let me know that they are not seeing any homework.  I assure you, your child should always have vocabulary each week (unless they are diligent in class and get it done), they should be reading every night, have a math assignment almost every night and a writing assignment every so often.  Most of our writing is done on the chromebooks/google docs, but the beauty of using google docs is that it can be accessed on any computer that has an internet connection.  I encourage you to have your student share with you what they are working on.

Ms. Evans :)
