Draw a future self-portrait.

Picture yourself in the year 2034. What will you be like at that point in your life? Will you be a politician, a scientist, a parent—all of the above? For this week's contest, draw a portrait of your future self and include a brief description of who you are going to be. Submit your drawings as an attachment to contest@flocabulary.com.
Note: Students, your teachers must submit for you.
Math: Blue sheet (both sides)

Writing: Rough draft needs to be done for tomorrow.  You will be doing peer edits and will start typing on Wednesday.

Vocab: WW3/Quiz on Friday.  You will have your first cumulative test on Friday too (unit 1-3).

Writing: We will begin discussing your first drafts/finishing them completely tomorrow.  If you won't be ready to share your work with me or a classmate tomorrow during our writing session, you will need to work on this at home.

Math: None today.

Social Studies: Today was your last day you had time to work on your codex.   These need to be turned in on Friday. (I will not accept any later than Monday, as we will be moving on to the next unit of study: The Explorers.)  You will have a quiz on facts 17-24 next Wednesday.

Dream up an invention.

Think about life before microwaves, laptop computers or airplanes. Is it hard to imagine? So many inventions that were once extraordinary have changed the way we live and are now a normal part of modern life. For this week's contest, come up with an invention that changes how we communicate, travel, eat, learn—anything! What do you think could make life easier to the point that we can't remember how we ever lived without it? If applicable, feel free to attach an illustration to your entry.

Writing: Your "My Life" assignment was due today.  We will start our first formal essay tomorrow.

Second day success with a great group!!

Hey class!

I am SO PUMPED for this school year.  The first two days you have proved to be respectful, funny, hardworking and driven.  I hope that this will be the trend for the year.  A couple things to note:

HOMEWORK:
Vocab: Flocab Unit #1 Word Work (this is the packet) will be due Friday. You will have a quiz on these words on Friday as well.  We will do a quick review tomorrow.

Writing: "My Life" will be due Monday of next week (the 8th). You will get a chunk of time tomorrow to work on this and a smaller chunk on Friday.  What you don't finish will end up being homework over the weekend.

Social Studies: You do not have homework yet.  We will continue our unit tomorrow and you will be assigned your tribe either Friday or Monday of next week.

Math: Lesson One blue sheet (both sides) will be due tomorrow.  We will review it at the beginning of math class.

RANDOM HMWK: HAVE YOUR PARENTS SIGN DOJO AND MANILLA FOLDER PAPERS :)
